Planet Releases Enterprise Search Appliance the Prospector
Germantown, MD (August 10, 2006) – Planet Technologies, an international IT consulting and services company, announced today that it has released the PROSPECTOR, an enterprise search appliance designed for the education, federal and enterprise markets. With plug and play functionality, the PROSPECTOR appliance enables enterprise-wide searches for information contained in web pages, shared network files and Exchange public folders all in an effort to connect people, teams and knowledge across an enterprise.
A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Planet designed the PROSPECTOR to respond to the needs of their clients who were looking for a robust enterprise search utility. The PROSPECTOR is driven by Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and leverages the Windows Server 2003 operating system and SQL 2005.
The entry level PROSPECTOR offers a low-cost, high-performance solution that outperforms current search appliances on the market with the ability to index one million documents, in addition to capturing metadata for detailed search ability. The system scales easily and cost effectively to meet the demands of large organizations.
“We are excited to announce the launch of the PROSPECTOR, a Microsoft-based search appliance,” said Scott Tucker, CEO of Planet Technologies. “We are confident that organizations will gain significant value through greater search performance, enhanced redundancy, and tighter integration with Microsoft technologies all at a lower price than other leading products on the market today.”
