To keep Federal Agencies up to date with their IP technology, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a memorandum specifying the tasks that all Federal Agencies must follow in order to make the transition. The first set of these tasks commenced in November 2005 and completion of all of the tasks and subsequent transition is due by June 2008.
Planet’s IPv6 Transition Assessment
To assist Federal Agencies with the IP version 6 requirements, Planet Technologies has developed an IP version 6 Transition Assessment that clarifies the level of effort and cost associated with completing the transition within the defined timescale. The effort is fixed scope, and fixed cost, delivering immediate results and training your staff in the methodology necessary to assess this and future transition projects.
Planet’s IPv6 Transition Planning Service
With the latest OMB deadline for delivery of transition planning documents for IP version 6, many agencies have begun to genuinely consider what the necessary steps are to make a transition to a dual stack (v4 and v6), or single IPv6 operating environment.
In support of this requirement, Planet’s technical experts have created an IPv6 transition planning service that provides Federal Agencies with not only a paper planning, but also a genuine hands-on approach to undertaking the transition. Elements of the service include application compatibility testing both on site and at Planet Technologies IPv6 testing lab of COTS, GOTS and custom built applications, network and switching configuration (Cisco and 3Com), modification of firewall settings and more, all designed to provide an Agency with a portfolio of structured projects that will step you through the complexities of the actual transition.
